Exploring Health and Fitness with Meet Ana Alarcón

Last Fall I introduced a series of interviews called #LETSCHAT with the amazing women that inspire me. This weekly series is based on incredible, strong and empowering individuals that inspire me through health and wellness. They are people that have made an impact on my life, big and small, that motivate me to be a better version of me, and I hope they can inspire you as well.

Hello, my beautiful friends and happy Sunday! I’m so excited to introduce to you Boston-based Fitness and lifestyle blogger, Ana Alarcón.

Ana and I first connected over the Fall through Instagram. We share the same Mexican heritage, a love for keeping fit with Lagree fitness and boxing, and possibly an obsession of avocados and Whole foods! If you’ve taken a peek at her account, you’ll instantly see how Ana is different from other accounts out there. It might be Ana’s genuineness, her humbleness, her radiant smile, and her downright cool badass chick personality. (You gotta love a babe that can box!)

Her plant-based and fitness lifestyle blog, AnaGoesFit.com, is filled with downright delicious vegan recipes, fitness posts to keep you motivated, and wellness posts. Ana first started her blog to share her favorite recipes and to show others how easy and affordable, and not to mention tasty, healthy eating can be.

And, although we’ve never met in person, I hope one day I can take one of Ana’s classes at Btone or at Every Body Fights. There are so many aspects of her that inspire me to be the healthiest and happiest possible, and I hope she inspires you!

VF: TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF: WHAT DO YOU DO, LOCATION, HOBBIES…

AA: I am your typical girl that likes a good avo toast, a good Ed Sheeran song and watch friends on the couch. I got back into fitness a couple of years ago and haven’t look back. I am super lucky because the Boston fitness community has been amazing to me! I have been living in Boston for almost three years, and I don’t think I am moving anytime soon. Although I grew up in México, this cold city has won my heart. I am currently a full-time fitness professional; I teach boxing and Lagree method, I love lifting and a good spin class. I will say I don’t have many hobbies, but if food shopping at Whole Foods counts, then I guess that’s mine!

VF: WHAT GOT YOU INTO HEALTH + FITNESS?

AA: About 3 years ago I wanted to lose weight and feel like I used to when I was in college, so, I started to eat a “healthier” diet and broccoli was on my daily meals. I saw a huge difference once I started working out and learning more about the nutrients in my food and how it affects my body. I originally started an Instagram account to keep myself accountable, but ended up growing and making me turn my life around and do fitness as a career!

VF: WHAT IS YOUR FITNESS SECRET?

AA: Move a little bit every day! We all think we need to do so much exercise to stay healthy, but we don’t really. Walking is the best exercise. So I don’t drive and make myself walk everywhere!

VF: WHAT IS YOU FAVORITE PART ABOUT TEACHING?

AA: Seeing people taking risks every class, from a little move that they never thought they could do to adding an extra pound to their weights .. you can tell in their excitement in their faces!

VF: ANSWER THIS: “THE FIRST THING I DO WHEN I WAKE UP IS…”

AA: Drink one liter of water! It helps flush all the toxins left in our bodies.

VF: FINISH THIS SENTENCE… “THE ONE THING THAT I CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT IS…”

AA: Peanut butter… just kidding. My family and Matt’s family. They are my number one fans and supporters and don’t know what I would do without them.

VF: WHAT IS YOUR MANTRA/WORDS TO LIVE BY?

AA: Be uncomfortable every day.

VF: I’M INSPIRED BY YOU. WHAT OR WHO INSPIRES YOU?

AA: My mum and Matt’s mom. But also all the babes I follow online and friends in Boston.

VF: WHAT IS YOUR RECIPE FOR A HAPPY, HEALTHY LIFE?

AA: Don’t take yourself too seriously, laugh a little bit and choose food wisely.

VF: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE GO-TO FOOD?

AA: Smoothies. The easiest way to get your greens in without sacrificing flavor.

VF: IF YOU HAD ONE WEEK TO ESCAPE YOUR EVERY DAY, WHERE WOULD YOU GO?

AA: My parents’ house, it is crazy, but when I am home I feel so peaceful.

AA: Avocado. Seriously everything.
